Day 1: Arrival at TriBhuban Airpot.
Upon your arrival at Kathmandu, you will be welcomed heartily by company representative at the airport and transfer to hotel with a short briefing session reflecting ancient local tradition, shrines and temples found over here. Overnight in Kathmandu. (1000m)
Day 2: kathmandu sightseening Tour.
Visit World Heritage site in Kathmandu including Kathmandu Durbar Square , Patan Durbar Square , Pasupatinath Temple, Bouddhanath, Swoyambhunath ( also called Monkey Temple)as a half day trip . Overnight stay in Kathmandu (1000m/280ft).
Day 3: Fly from Kathmandu to Nepalgunj.
It takes about half hours scenic flight to Nepalgunj to the domestic airport. Stay in Nepalgunj exploring the surrounding southern Nepal Border with India and Markey areas.
Day 4: Fly from Nepalgunj to Juphal (Dolpo) (2320m/7610 ft).
Trek to Dunai (2850m/9348ft) which takes 2-3 hours walks. After flying to Juphal, a super scenic flight of 45 minutes brings you at Juphal over the Himalayan foothills, with views of Annapurna and Dhaulagiri peaks to the north. Your adventure begins with the terraced fields to the Bheri River and the narrow gorge taking 2-3 hours camp at Dunai , Administrative headquarters of Dolpo region . Stroll around for local knowledge.
Night in Kathmandu. (1000m)
Day 5: Trek to Ankhe which takes 5-6 hours.
Your trail follows past the hospital soon begins climbing up the side of treeless Thulo Bheri valley where it creates a ridge and then enters the Phoksundo River valley. You can see excellent views of Kagmara peak up the valley. The wonderful walk leads you to the large side canyons then descending gently on the long downhill slopes therough the scattered houses and walnut groves to a stream at 2810m. Your trail below the stream leads to Dhera, a winter settlement. Follow the path to Rahagoan, a Thakuri village (2900m) where there is a Gompa, dedicated to local god Mastha, guardians of this village. Trel lower part of Rahagaon and then descend to the village water supply at the Phoksundo Khola. Passing through the canyon, the path heads downhill through deep dark forests to a large stream, finally emerging at the entrance to the She Phoksundo National park at Ankhe (2896m).
Day 6: Trek to Shulighat 5-6 hours walk.
Today’s trail leads to small ups and down along the forested riverbed. You ascend steeply to about 2900m. The ups and downs can begin to get a bit monotonous, but there are several streams along the way that offer a chance to cool of. You lead upto the forests and traverns, a glassy slope high above the river. You can almost look down between your toes to see the fast flowing river below. Your trail becomes a collection of rocks reaching the river at 2950m. It’s very hard to imagine how the local people bring their yaks and cows along this trail, but they do. You continue your journey upstreams to a bridge near Ryajik Village for the overnight camp 3500m, after a good day’s walk.
Day 7: Trek to Phoksundo Lake (4-5 hours).
You trek crossing to the western side of the Phoksundo Khola on the wooden bridge. Then the path follows the west bank of the Punmo Khola wich leads all the way to Phoksundo Lake (3500m) near Ringmo Village. You pass through Cedar forest and finally to Palam, a winter settlement of Ringmo people. Your route heads up to open country, at an attitude of around 3350m. From the range, one can see the distance views of Phoksundo Lake, and a spectacular 300m high waterfall, one of the highest falls of Nepal. Your walk descends through bird’s forests to the upper reaches of the Phoksundo Khola, then to the picturesque settlement of Ringmo with its mud plastered Chortens and main walls.
Day 8: rest day at Phoksundo Lake hiking to Ringmo village and its Tibetan Buddhist monastery.
Day 9: Trek to Phoksundo Khola which takes about 4-6 hours trekking contouring to rocky ledge along the western bank. This unsteady traik suspended on the gangway of wood supported on pegs driven into crerasse in the rocks , signals , the remoteness of the area we are about to enter . The path leads through a lush meadow that opens up into the flood plain of the Phoksundo Khola. Then, your walk leads to the valley, avoiding the occasional boggy marsh underfoot and then coming on the bank of the river to the overnight camp.
Day 10: Trek to Phoksundo Bhanjyang.
You walk 6-7 hours along the level path through a glacier valley that noe heads on north. At the confluence of the Phoksundo Khola and another mountain stream, there is an old wooden bridge. A long climb brings you to a steep meadow where the trail veers up a steep ravin. A hard climb to the top brong to yet another valley where one can see the Kang La pass which will lead towards She Gompa. Overnight camp will be just before the pass in a place that Peter Matthiessen Christened “Snowfields Camp”.
Day 11: Trek to Shey Gompa via Kang La Pass.
It takes 5-6 hours. Today your pass is strenuous, especially on the slate screed. From the top of Kang La (5360m) there are excellent views down upon a large valley which id bisected by a gushing river . On descending steeply to the valley floor, the path leads long meandering trek along the banks of river, crossing and re- crossing several times. There are mud caves lining the hills overlooking the river and we pass through meadows where hairy yaks, hundreds of sheeps amd domestic ountian goats can be found grazing as well near the odd nomadic but of the herders. A red Chorten heralds your arrival at Shey Gompa 4500m where a quaint wooden, log bridge leads upto our destination at Dhay Gompa compand for our overnight camp.
Day 12: Rest day at Shey Gompa.
The crystal monastery watching complete harmony of Lama of Shey Phoksundo. It is rather retreat than a monastery Tsakang had been a meditation center of many famous Lamas from Tibet. Shay Gompa belongs to the Chaiba community, followers of great saint Padmasambhav, known as Guru Ringpoche and Kagyu sects. Shey is famous for its ancient pre Buddhist culture the Bon Po . IN Dolpo the ancient Tibetan way of life combines animism with the teaching of Buddha. Crystal maintain is to the east of Shey Gompa, the strangest mountain having variety of moraine fossils. Shey Gompa stands above the confluence of Kangjunla and Yeju Nala River. Each year people of this region travel great distances to attend the festival at Shey and to complete the circuit of Crystal Mountain. This is an amazing trip to here that certainly makes this trek as special as only few westerners have ever ventured upto Shey Gompa.
Day 13: Trek to Namduna Gaon via Saldang la.
It takes 6-7 hours by following a pleasnt trail amidst Juniper which descends into a grey stony canyon. The path begins to Zigzag over bare roacks and coarse eroded soil until it eventually brings you to the top of Saldang La (5200m). Like Shey, the Namjung monastery is of the Karma Pass sect. The monastery, a red stone structure is built against the backdrop of a cliff on the north wall of a group. The red and white colours of the glimpy and its stupas are the only clour in this stark landscape. The village itself consists of only six stone houses and has terraced fields on both sides of tributary, which flow down to the Nam Khong Valley.
Day 14: Trek to Saldang.
It takes 4-5 hours walk. On leaving the Namduna Gaon, your trip leads to a climb up a steep slope. After 3-4 hours of hard climb, Saldang (3620m) appearsbelow on a plateau high above the Nam Khongmala. It has picturesque appearance. Saldang is the largest village of Dolpo region and arid zone of the Trans- Himalayan Tibetan plateau. You watch very beautifully to the prosperous village not only agriculturally but also for its strategic location on trade route to Tibet.
Day 15: Trek to Yangze Gompa.
It takes 4-5 hours walk by exploring area by westerners or by commercial adventure trekking companies. The trail follows the Nang Chu river most of the way on this wild barren windswept terrain. Your trek begins along the fairy gradual path with few ups ans down slope and then passing through the small settlement of Tiling and Lurigaon till we reach to our overnight camp at Yangze. Cross the tributary Panzang River, a short walk from here begins us to an unexpected region of Yangze (4960m) and uts very old Bon Po monastery for the overnight halt with time for exploration around the village and the monastery.
Day 16: Trek to Sibu (4560m).
It takes 6-7 hours trek from Yangze. There are two trails that connect Sinu, the long way trail heads due west passing through the very remote villages of Nilshalgoan and further past Shimengoan. From Saldong the trail following the river bed , you pass through terraced fields, stupas, Chortens , Heaps of Mani srones and a Chaiba Monastery , then passing through Namdo villagers which is prosperous with about sixty houses having nearly 500 inhabitants . Follow to the left of the Nam Khong where Namdo monastery is located near the river bed. Then, continue your journey to Sinu Camp.
Day 17: Trek to Jeng La Phedi.
It takes 5-6 hours, the trail follows the nam Khong Khola for a while coming across the caraven of Laden yaks that are on their way towards Tibetan border. Following the river in your trek, you past tuming east till you arrive at the Confluence of two small tributaries. From here, your walk leads to a steep climb to the bottom of Jeng la (4900m) where you stay for overnight on a nice meadow.
Day 18: Trek to Tokyu Gaon via Jeng La.
It takes 5-6 hours. Your trail today leads to two hours climb towards the top of the Jeng La (509m). An excellent view of snow ranges emerges to the south. The north face of Dhaulagiri massif shines to descend on the pleasant track down towards Tarap Chu. Tarap is a fascinating valley with vast plains in high mountains. Trapchu is having ten villages with its cultivated fields and many gompas, Chortens of both sects. Stop at Tokyu Monastery (4200m).
Day 19: Trek Dho Tarap.
It takes 4-5 hours. The route today leads eastward along the downhill course of Tarap Chu in a a plain valley with patches of lush verdant grass on both sides of the river which is completely different from other parts of inner Dolpo . There is also a marsh which is common feature in Desert Mountains of Tibet and Ladakh Himalaya. In this valley, both Bon Po Chiaba sects reside together in harmony, come to Dho Tarap (4040m) camping with ample time to visit around the village.
Day 20: Rest day at Dho Tarap.
Today, you have full rest day exploring the local areas. They wear home spun clothing thet is sometimes dyed Marron and prefer Tibetan style somba (boots with unturnes toes) for footwear. Men and women wear both religious amulets and strings of coral and turquoise. The villagers are both Bon Po and Buddhist of Nyingmapa sect. The Buddhist gompa is the nearest one to the campsite, the Bon Gompa is further 40 minutes walks.
Day 21: Trek to Tarap Khola (Kama Kharka).
It takes 6-7 hours. Your moderate walk depending upon the choice of different campsites descends towards a wide valley which eventually narrows into a gorge. You walk along the Juniper bush and wild rose, typically of dry inner Himalayan valleys to just above the tree line. You can see herds of blue sheep. Reach at the confluence of the Tarap Chu and the Lang Khola, a stream that joins with Tarap River from further east. Make your camp on meadow.
Day 22: Trek to Khanigaon.
It takes 4-5 hours walk. Continue yur journey down to Tarap River, rising high above ob a trail built from the steep slopes might come across people from the Dolpo taking their herds to lower pastures for the winter. There are many possible campsites by the river. The gorge also provides you unexpected adventure and thrills. At some places, the bridges are either damaged or washed away and may be forced to cross the icy tornent on foot. Finally, reaching to the camp spot beside the Tarap at Khanigaon (3150m).
Day 23: Trek to Tarakot .
It takes 4-5 hours. Your trail today follows an indistinct trail to the village of Lalberi. Then, passing through an area of impressive forest, continue following the river again downstream to Tarakot where colorful terraced fields greet us. Tarakot (2537m) is an old fortess town known by the local people as Dzong (fort). The famous Sandul Gompa lies about 8 km east of Tarakot and at the junction of Barbung Khola and Tarap Chu. It stands on the knoll to the south of Bheri River and at one time supervised collection of tolls for the trading caravans traversing an area caleed Tichu Rong. It is possible to camp by the river about 150m below Tarakot, near the police post. You climb a steep hill for over an hour to the small village on a spur on the other side of a valley opposite Tarakot. There are Chortens and a gompa here on the rdge of grassy plateau, with an interesting solitary tree.
Day 24: Trek to Dunai.
It takes 5-6 hours. The walk continues besides the Bheri River in the tremendous gorge with pine trees and an ingenious path built anout seven meters above the river. In Dunai (2140m) after completing the circuit with time for celebration, particularly as bottled beers available here.
Day 25: Trek to Juphal.
It takes 2-3 hours. You retrace your journey back to Juphal, which is a short distance walk along the Bheri River to the small airstrip for the last overnight camp of ths great memorable adventure.
Day 26: Fly from Juphal to Nepalgunj to Kathmandu.
Today you will take scenic flight for five minutes to Nepalgunj over the Himalayan foothills overlooking stunning views of the main peaks including Annapurna and Dhaulagiri to the north. On the arrivals at Nepalgunj depending upon the connecting flight schedule to Kathmandu.
Day 27: Transfer to International airport for your final departure by the representative.
