Gokyo Lake Trek

This package has been specially designed for travelers who are eager to experience the magnificience of the Everest range, without wanting too much mental and physical stress. The view from Gokyo is exceptionally beautiful and offers none of the legendary mountain than from the views from Kala Patthar through from a slightly greater distance. This unique trek leads yoy to abode of the legendary Sherpa people, on the foothill of the highest peak of the world, Mt Everest at 8848m. The excellent trek bestows the benefit to summit Gokyo peak (5366m) offering a fantastic panoramic view of Mt. Choyu, Everest, and Makalu etc. Travelling through Khumbu Himal, Gokyo valley and pass, you will be regarded with some of the most dramatic landscape. Monastery, Khumjung Village, Namche bazaar, Gokyo Lake / glacier, spectacular mountains views and Sherpa culture are main attraction of this trekking.

Itinearary in Details

 

Day 1:Arrival at kathmandu Tri Bhuban Airpot.
Upon your arrival at Kathmandu, you will be welcomed heartily by company representative at the airport and transfer to hotel with a short briefing session reflecting ancient local tradition, shrines and temples found over here. Overnight in Kathmandu. (1000m).

Day 2:Kathmandu sightseening Tour.
Visit World Heritage site in Kathmandu including Kathmandu Durbar Square , Patan Durbar Square , Pasupatinath Temple, Bouddhanath, Swoyambhunath ( also called Monkey Temple)as a half day trip . Overnight stay in Kathmandu (1000m/280ft).

Day 3: Fly Kathmandu to Lukla (2886m).
This flight takes about 30minutes and leads toward Phakding. From Lukla you will pass Chauri Kharka village and makes descend towards the Dudhkoshi Ghat (2530m). The trail follows the bank of Dudh Koshi River until camp at Phakding (2652m), Even then, you will have the opportunity to trip to monastery as well.

Day 4: Trek from Phakding to Namchhe Bazar (3440m).
This trail starts along a level path crossing Dudhkoshi river over a long suspension bridge, walking through beautiful pine forest. This leads you along the river of Hillary suspension bridge. Today in route you will see first view of Mt. Everest. The trail further climbs to Namchhe Bazar, a gate way to Mt. Everest and main trading centre of this region.

Day 5: Namchhe Bazar (3440m).
Today you will acclimatize to spend a day rest to high altitude before heading off towards Tengboche. You walk to Khumjung where you can visit monastery. Khumjung is densely populated area of Sherpa community where you can enjoy with the views of Mt. Everest, Ama Dablam, Thamserku, Nuptse, Lhotse, and Tawache and so on. After walking an hour, you will reach Syangboche (3800m) where Everest view hotel is situated above Namchhe for an outstanding view of Everest, Nuptse, AmaDablam, Thamserku, and Kusum Kangara. You will also see National park center and museum just above the town which is full of with Sherpa Culture.

Day 6: Namche Bazzar to Dole (4170m).
Today’s trail will descend to the west of the village up to the broad valley leading to Dudhkoshi River. You can enjoy incredible views behing the ridge of Nupla and Kwangde Himal (6794m), across the valley to the north, the towering ice fluted walls of Thamserku (6623m) and to the east the panoramic view of the Everest. At this instant, you will follow the trail to Dole across the Rhododendron forests encouraging with diverse flora and fauna.

Day 7: Dole to Machhermo (4410m).
From Dole, your trail ascends to Luza (4360m). The trail now is steep in most of the places as it climbs through scrub junipers. There are Kharkas whenever there is flat spot and the slightest hint of water. The trail continues to climb along the side of the valley, high above the river crossing standy spurs to Machhermo.

Day 8: Machhermo to Gokyo (4790m).
The trail will climb along the ridge for a superb view. Beyond the ridge the valley widens as the trail passes through Pangka village then descend to the riverbanks before the beginning to climb on to the terminal moraine of the Gokyo Glacier. It’s steep climb up the moraine, switch backing alongside the stream to the first small lake, where a family of green Brahmin ducks resides.

Day 9: Gokyo (5360m).
Early morning crossing alongside of the Gokyo lake and climbing to Gokyo peak opportune yourself for the most beautiful panoramic views of Mt. Choyu, Mt. Guachung Kang, Mt. Everest, Mt .Lhotse, Makalu, Cholatse, Tawache as well as Gokyo glacier from quiet close up to your eyes. In Gokyo River, you will be surrounded with the giant mountain and can instill the excitement of the Everest climbing on your own. Getting down to Gokyo, you will have time to relax.

Day 10: Gokyo Valley Rest Day
This is Gokyo valley exploration day; you will have to hike until fifth lake. This is also the way to go for Cho yu expedition.

Day 11: Gokyo to Dole
From Gokyo, the trail descends to Dole tracing back the same scrub junipers and Kharkas.

Day 12: Dole to Khumjung Valley (3730m)
Walking along towards Khumjung village, you came across typical Sherpa lifestyle and their culture with its traditional beauties and other .Khumjung is an attractive village blessed with various natural jewels and above the eye catching flora & fauna. Khumjung valley with big village includes hospital and high school, monastery contributed by Sir Edmund Hillary.

Day 13: Khumjung village to Phakding.
Following a similar trail through a forest of juniper, rhododendron and fir to Syangbochhe height, you continue crossing the airport for a steep descend down to Namche bazzar. Subsequently a steep descent passing the Bhote Koshi, crossing the river, following the bank to Jorsale and then to phakding for overnight stay.

Day 14: Phakding to Lukla.
Today’s trail will depart Phakding and carry on your descent along the Dudh Koshi river , before making a final ascent to reach the Lukla plateau by mild afternoon . On the arrival of Lukla, you will have to relax and celebrate the competition of your trek.

Day 15: Lukla to Kathmandu.
This morning is procedure to check the airport, transferred to Lukla Airport for your flight back to Kathmandu. On the arrival in Kathmandu you will be conveyed in hotel.

Day 16: Transfer to International airport for your final departure by the representative.
