Langtang Gosainkunda Helambu Trek.

Langtang Gosaikunda Helambu Trek is one of the interesting trekking which offers you unusual attitudinal migrants such as Ibisbill and Gould’s short wing, high altitude birds such as snow Patridge, Tibetan snow cock and Grandala. The valley became Nepal’s second largest National park in Kakani Nepal. The park has healthy forests of Rhododendron, fir, blue and chirpine and bicth. Wildlife in the park includes leopard, musk deer, Himalayan Black bear, Rhesus and langur, monkeys and endangered red Pandas. The Bhote Koshi – Trisuli is an important migratory route for birds travelling between India and Tibet. The Langtang Gosaikunda route may be trekked in either direction. Pheasants, bush, robins, tesias, bush and leaf warblers, wren babblers and rose fences can also be seen in this trekking region.

Itinearary in Details

 

Day 1: Upon your arrival at Kathmandu, you will be welcomed heartily by company representative at the airport and transfer to hotel with a short briefing session reflecting ancient local tradition, shrines and temples found over here. Overnight in Kathmandu. (1000m)

Day 2: Visit World Heritage site in Kathmandu including Kathmandu Durbar Square , Patan Durbar Square , Pasupatinath Temple, Bouddhanath, Swoyambhunath ( also called Monkey Temple)as a half day trip . Overnight stay in Kathmandu (1000m/280ft)

Day 3: Drive from Kathamandu to Syabrubeshi (1460m)
It takes about 9hours. Your journey starts at the foot of Langtang valley through round with spectacular route climbing high over the ridges to escape the kathmandu valley and provides with superb panorama of the Himalaya, including the Annapurna , Manaslu , Ganesh Himal and the peaks of Langtang region thet you will soon become better acquainted with .

Day 4: Trek from Syabrobeshi to Lama Hotel (2410m)
It takes about 6 hours. The trail initially crosses the Bhotekoshi, flowing down from Tibet and then gradually climbs up through the sub tropical forests teaming with bird life to join the trail fron Syabrubeshi. Your trail follows river, climbing through unhabited forests to Oak and Rhododendron forests and may catch the glimpse of Langoor monkeys roaming through the trees. Camp in the forests climbing along the steep at Lama Hotel.

Day 5: Trek from Lama Hotel to Langtang village (3330m)
It takes about 5 hours. Your trail meets occational view of Langtang Lirung between the trees. At Ghora Tabela (3000m) the trail emerged from the forest. The trail continues to climb gently and the valley widens passing a few temporary settlements used by herders who bring their livestock to graze in the high pastures during the summer months. There is a monastery which you can visit shortly before arriving at the village of Langtang, the headquater of Langtnag National park.

Day 6: Trek from Langtang village to Kyangjin (3730m)
`It takes about 4 and half hours. The trail climbs gradually through small villages and yak pastures as the valley opens out further and the views become more extensive. Crossing small streams ans moraines the trail reaches to Kyangjing and acclimatize the area. It is dramatic setting with snowy peaks surrounding in all direction and enjoy the view of Kyangjin RI (4750m), Tsergo RI (5000m), Gyanja La (5160m), Langshi-la RI (6427m), Dorji Lakpa (6430m), Naya kang (5844m), Yala peak (5500m) and others.

Day 7: Acclimatization in Kyangjin exploring and visiting monastery and cheese factory. You walk up the moraine to see the spectacular ice faces tumbling glaciers of Langtang Lirung or ascends Kyangjin RI (4350m) directly behind the village for a breathtaking panorama of the Langtang Peaks.

Day 8: Trek from Kyangjin to Lama Hotel (2410m)
It takes about 5 hours. From Kyangjin, you retrace your route, following the Langtang whole to Langtang village and go to Ghora Tabela. Continue to steep descent to Lama Hotel.

Day 9: Trek from Lama Hotel to Thulo Syabru (2130m)
It takes about 6 and half hours. Your trail retrace to Thulo Syabru and its extensive area of millet terraces. An undiluting path brings you to this fascinating village.

Day 10: Trek from Thulo Syabru to Sing Gompa (2330m)
It takes about 6 and half hours. From Thulo Syabru, it is steep climb through forest of Oak, fir and rhododendron to the top of ridge. There is only short descent to sing Gompa. There is Buddhist monastery and a small cheese factory.

Day 11: Trek from Sing Gompa to Gosaikunda (4380m)
It takes about 6 hours .From Sing Gompa, you climb a ridge to the main Gosaikunda trail. There are good views across Langtang valley to Langtang Lirung. To the west, there are dramatic views of the Ganesh Himal and monasteries. Eventually, the trail descents from the ridge to the first of three lakes, Saraswoti Kunda. The second lake in the chain is named Bhairav Kunda and the third, Gosaikunda. It is the lake of sacred and pilgrimage in the summer. Legendry interpretation of this lake was that it was created bu Shiva when he pierced a glacier with his trident to obtain water, quenching his thrust after taking some poison.

Day 12: Trek from Gosaikunda to Ghopte (3430m)
It takes about 7 hours. The trail leaves Gosaikunda and climbs through rugged country, past four more small lakes to the Lurebina la (4610m) on the highest point of the trek. You can look back for spectacular views of Manaslu and the mountains of Ganesh Himal, as well as the now familiar Langtang Lirung. Steep descend to camp near Ghopte.

Day 13: Trek from Ghopte to Melamchi gaun via Thearepati pass (3490m)
Today’s trail slightly descends and then begins to ascend through the rhododendron forest until Thearepati. Your trek goes in descending order. Before climbing to Thearepati, a group of herder’s huts at 3579m, you cross stream after coming through rhododendron, oak, and juniper forests. From Thearepati, your trail gradually descends through pine and rhododendron forest with good views down into the Helambu valley and across to Jugal Himal and Nambur in the Solukhumbu. Melamchi Gaun is surrounded by beautiful forest which is mainly inhabited by Sherpa people with their distinctive culture. There are situated some Buddhist monasteries to be visited.

Day 14: Trek from Tarkeghyang to Shermathang (2621m)
It takes about 3 hours. The early part of the trek descends until you cross the Stream Melamchi. You trek gently upto village with Tarkeghyang passing through Sherpa settlements. Tarkegyang is a beautiful Sherpa village with biggest and oldest monasteries. There is situated a beautiful village on the half way to Shermanthang , pretty Sherpa village , where you can visit many Sherpa ancient monasteries through which you can see Jugal Himal range at the north face of Shermathang village .

Day 15: Trek from Shermanthang to Melamchi Pul Bazzar (846m)
Today’s trail gradually descends up all the way to Melamchi Pul Bazzar through meadows and cultivated fields. On the way, you come across several ols villages with their own particular tradition.

Day 16: Drive from Melamchi Bazzar to Kathmandu
It takes about 5 hours through graveled and bumpy path upto zero kilometers and then you follow the pitched road upto Kathmandu.

Day 17: Transfer to International airport for your final departure by the representative.
