Makalu Base Camp Trek.

Makalu – Barun National Park, a virtually unhabited 1500 km area of Eastern Nepal, is very close to virgin wilderness. This remote terrain stretches east from Sagarmatha National Park, between the high plateau of Tibet and the deep sub tropical gorge carved by the Arun River. The spectacular views of rugged Himlayan peaks, including Mt. Makalu (8463m), fifth highest peak in the world, Chamlang (7319m) and Mt. Baruntse (7129m) will welcome you in this trekking. Within 40kms, high peak descend to Arun River at 670m. The Makalu – Barun valley provides stunning contrast where high waterfalls cascade into deep gorges rises from lush green forest and colorful flowers bloom beneath white snow capped peaks . This is unique landscape having pristine mountain eco system on earth. The rare species of animals and plants flourish in diverse climates ans habitates, relatively safe from mankind. Over 3000 species of plants, 440 species of birds and 75 species of mammals including the endangered clouded leopard, Red panda and Musk Deer have been recorded. This trek provides you remarkable bio diversity to have global significance and laboratory for international scientific research. The Barun valley is part of a huge, international protected area under an agreement between Nepal and China. This provides a splendid venue for more adventurous nature lovers. If you are looking to combine some serious flora and fauna with some strenuous hiking are also available in this area. You start your journey from Tumlingtar by flight above the Arun River, then towards the beautiful Barun Valley and finally setting up Makalu base camp at an altitude of 4840 m.

Itinearary in Details

 

Day 1: Upon your arrival at Kathmandu, you will be welcomed heartily by company representative at the airport and transfer to hotel with a short briefing session reflecting ancient local tradition, shrines and temples found over here. Overnight in Kathmandu. (1000m)

Day 2: Visit World Heritage site in Kathmandu including Kathmandu Durbar Square , Patan Durbar Square , Pasupatinath Temple, Bouddhanath, Swoyambhunath ( also called Monkey Temple)as a half day trip . Overnight stay in Kathmandu (1000m/280ft).

Day 3: Fly fromKathmandu to Tumlingtar and trek to Khadbari (1040m). Stay in lodge.

Day 4: Trek from Tumlingtar to Mani Bhanjyang (1100m).

Day 5: Trek from Mani Bhanjyang to Chichila (1830m).

Day 6: Trek from Chichila to Num (1500m).

Day 7: Trek from Num to Sedua (1510m).

Day 8: Trek from Sedua to Tashigaon. (2070m).

Day 9: Trek from Tashigaon to Khinga (3560m).

Day 10: Exploration in Khonga (3560m).

Day 11: Trek from Khongma to Numbuk (3550m).

Day 12: Trek from Numbuk to Yangle Kharka (3600m).

Day 13: Trek from Yangle Kherke to Menek (4570m) or Shersong (4650m)
Day 14: Acclimatization in Shersong (4650m).

Day 15: Retrace your step down the valley via Yangle Kharka, Numbuk, Khongma, Tashigaon, Num, Chichila, and Mani Bhanjyang to Tumlingtar.

Day 16: Fly back to Kathmandu.

Day 17: Transfer to International airport for your final departure by the representative.
